Brewing a Sustainable Future at Jarrod’s CoffeeFall 2025
Summary
Implemented targeted sustainability upgrades at Jarrod’s Coffee, Tea & Gallery to reduce operational costs and environmental impact across energy, water, and waste systems. Guided by professional audits and implemented by specialized partners, the project delivered measurable efficiency gains, including a 30% reduction in electricity use, saving 4,000 kWh annually, avoiding 2.8 tons of CO2 emissions, and generating $1,000+ in annual energy cost savings. Water conservation upgrades resulted in 35,000 gallons of water saved annually, while food waste diversion through the Mill food recycler redirected 750 lbs of organic waste per year, producing 450 lbs of nutrient-rich soil for on-site gardening. Additional waste-reduction strategies eliminated approximately 6,000 single-use plastic cups annually, reinforcing long-term sustainability at a key community and cultural hub in Mesa.
