Water Recycling and Good VibrationsFall 2025
Summary
Circular Earth led a youth-powered sustainability project at St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) Mesa Dining Hall that transforms waste into long-term community benefit. By capturing and reusing shower greywater from approximately 100 showers per week, the system diverts an estimated 83,000 gallons of water annually from the sewer—reducing operating costs by $662 per year, equivalent to funding 133 meals for individuals experiencing homelessness. Designed for durability, the greywater filtration system is built to operate for six years with minimal maintenance, ensuring sustained resource savings. In parallel, the project converted a neglected corner of the site into a Green Space zen garden using reclaimed and recycled materials, improving daily experience for guests while reinforcing SVdP’s capacity to serve the community.
